Why do we only need to be a specialist in one area. In todays market, what i see is the people that are always willing to learn a new skill and take on something that they have never done before. When looking for a new job, it is easy to assess if you are 100% matched, but 100% is wrong! You need to look at 60-70% ability to already do that job and then look at how you can fill in the gaps, this will give you more job satisfaction but also will give the employer a higher retention rate. When someone is always willing to learn, they are already going to be able to earn!

A compelling story that connects your past is great, but remember in that pitch, you are human. And you are talking to another human most the time. So ensure you are confident, but also ensure you are getting your message across with empathy and with understanding. It is ok if the other person asks you questions during your pitch, as it shows they are interested!
