Having a mentor is game changing. I have been fortunate to be mentored by the brightest minds in Indonesia and Oil & Gas industry’s digital space. Mentors will open doors to projects that will dramatically increase your competency level. In my case, it’s the computer vision application that I wrote about at SPE IPTC 2023 and the predictive maintenance application that gave me the inspiration to create Premaan that wins Pertamina Digital Hackathon 2023.

Mentors help you to think differently, provide the confidence in the approach you have taken. You will start becoming innovative with your ideas when you have constant interaction with your industry peers. It is good to have a mentor who can provide you the perspective, experience and what could go well and wrong

This is something i learned very late into my career. Engaging on online communities helps build a network and connection with people who share the same passion and enthusiasm as you. - Participate in Discord and Slack communities to connect with people who share similar goals and progress together. - Utilize GitHub to share your work, collaborate with other developers, and contribute to projects. - Leverage LinkedIn to share your insights and achievements in your professional niche. A few people I admire in the machine learning field, who are also active on social media, are Chip Huyen and Aleksa Gordi?. Both of them have significantly contributed to my learning journey.

Networking certainly helps an individual to know more about others, gain perspective and also a chance to learn from others. One cannot learn all by himself and learning through others experience matters and is a quick way to absorb knowledge.

To advance your machine learning career, leverage feedback from industry experts by critically analyzing their critiques. Evaluate the context and relevance of their advice, considering how it aligns with your goals and projects. Reflect on the feedback thoughtfully, as it may lead to significant breakthroughs in your work. Never dismiss critiques without careful consideration, as expert insights can provide valuable direction and opportunities for growth.

Always see feedback on the your predictive model assuming the expert as an end user. The user will have all sorts of questions and reservations about using a new system, it is our job to navigate through this journey and make a system that is user friendly, explainable and reacts to user errors reasonably.. This is where experts help us in adding bounds to our model and we need to filter noise from actionable insights.

* Feedback is a gift, but analyze it wisely! * Not all advice is created equal. * Consider the context and how it fits your goals. * Valuable insights can lead to breakthroughs! * Don't dismiss feedback - learn from it and grow.

Measure the suggestion given and see if there is an alignment to your thought process or the output that we need. Filter out the necessary and unnecessary feedback and use the added information to better your process and as a result the outcome

Any output should have a monitoring and a feedback mechanism, this is essential to know if we are moving in the right path and also to absorb new data changes/ expectations. Tracking is the essential thing which can actually better your delivery much efficiently.

Progress should contain the metrics which are being measured. The value add out of the changes needs to be tracked, monitored and should be made sustainable.

The Best way to start I would suggest to follow the ethics. By ethics I mean showcase your soft skills in front of your industry mentor. Soft skills like Punctuality, consistency and your devotion towards your work this will not only help you build a very good image in front of the industry experts but also help you to grow further in your career.
