In order to preserve as much of the original building as possible, the first approach and priority should be to restore broken/damaged parts of the building, but with modern tactics and styles; that way, we could have the best of both worlds and show the public the evolution of architecture through a building.

I actually disagree with the blind use of "modern" materials like glass and steel just for the sake of modernity. After the extensive research of the historical building, designers can make more informed material choices, that complement the existing structure (whether in materiality, pattern, color) but still indicating that this is a new addition/alteration. I also think we should call it "Contemporary Adaptation" instead of "Modern Adaptation". The word "modern" sounds like the opposite of "traditional" or "historical", which insinuates the disregard of history. The word "contemporary", however, relates to the current state of the present and is more contextual, acknowledging the rich history that eventually led to what we have today.

Also, using any existing rubble for the new construction ensures using the least amount of materials possible, which is both environmentally and economically sustainable.

This is probably the most important thing to think about before doing anything else, since we have to know our limitations and possibilities.

Most people must realise that scripting models like Grasshopper and advanced data-driven AI have unlimited potential in solving complex conservation challenges, such as non-intrusive construction and aesthetic speculation. On average, humans have often proved to be less reliable regarding objective conservation principles because we are a product of our modern times. But scripting and AI that work solely on data and are free from subjectivity biases can be the perfect tools to incorporate in an environment that should remain free from all conjectures.
