Here's how you can infuse entrepreneurial skills into your curriculum.

One of the things I’ve found helpful to cultivate curiosity is by sharing a story. When someone hears your story, they usually hear from the perspective of their own life. It brings the subject to life and animates the content. And, it helps them remember what they learned because now it has context. Finally, you can pique curiosity with a question that makes the mind explore the possibilities of what will happen next or leave off mid sentence in the story.

An entrepreneur is an individual who creates a new venture. Among others, s/he is expected to be creative, innovative, goal-oriented etc. To infuse these skills into the curriculum, it is important not just to teach theories but let there be practice-oriented topics in the curriculum. A marketing teacher should not just teach the Ps of Marketing and Brand Management as they appear in textbooks, students should also be tasked with practicals on branding and so on. For instance, they can create a logo for a new or an existing product. By so doing, they will need their creativity and ingenuity which are hallmarks of an entrepreneur.

Encouraging curiosity also means being open to students' ideas and perspectives. I make it a point to listen actively and provide constructive feedback that further fuels their investigative spirit. By validating their curiosity and guiding them on how to channel it productively, students learn to value their ideas and develop the confidence to pursue them. Overall, cultivating curiosity is about creating a dynamic learning environment where exploration and critical thinking are at the forefront. This not only prepares students for entrepreneurial endeavors but also equips them with a lifelong love of learning and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

I believe traditional education is meant to take that curious kid away from you. Constantly asking why and what questions helps to better articulate as well as forces us to think from first principles. What it is that we are trying to solve is a question that you should constantly think about. Taking an example from the recent house of the dragon series: The war started due to some reasons but the reasons will be soon forgotten and decisions will be taken on the recent events, not the initial one event.

In my experience - if you are dreaming of doing something very big by starting a new venture - please stop immediately, if you are from middle class family. Then, we moved into small groups where they shared their ideas and built upon each other’s concepts. This collaborative environment fostered creativity and allowed students to see their ideas from different perspectives. One exercise I found particularly useful is the "Pain Points" technique, where students identify common problems or frustrations people face in everyday life.

In scenarios when ideas are being generated, encourage each student to offer a suggestion. It is imperative for educators to establish a classroom environment that fosters flexibility, risk-taking, open-ended thinking, and innovation. Assist pupils with realising that there are multiple ways to solve a certain issue and that we use our creative thinking abilities to solve difficulties. Students frequently provide a variety of ideas in groups based on their interests.

It begins with guiding them through brainstorming sessions that encourage free thinking and the sharing of ideas without judgment. Facilitate exercises that help them identify needs in the market and think creatively about how to meet those needs. This process not only hones their ability to come up with original ideas but also teaches them the importance of collaboration and feedback in shaping a viable business concept. For instance, a group exercise where students develop a solution to a common campus problem, like improving student transportation, can illustrate how collaborative effort and iterative refinement lead to a solid business idea.

The best ideas are now being born at the interdisciplinary level. If you can take something from neural networks and something from physiology, then you will get neurophysiology - a science at the junction of two disciplines. In border areas there are always many problems and unexpected solutions. Often these solutions are simple, brilliant, but not obvious. If you are in the blinders of one discipline.

With every new opportunity there is a hidden or visible risk, it's the ability to understand, measure and strategically manage this risk that helps build a business around the opportunity. Risk assessment and management shall be the super power of every entrepreneur and I think this is the skill that really distinguishes the 1% from the general population.

Estoy convencido de que hay tres conceptos muy importantes a enfatizar con casos y escenarios, para el correcto entendimiento de los riesgos que conllevan sus decisiones; 1) Costo de oportunidad, entendido como lo que hay que sacrificar para obtener lo que se desea/quiere/necesita, el punto es que siempre se deberá sacrificar algo; 2) Costo-beneficio, entendido como: ?en verdad la decisión de hacer equis cosa me traerá los beneficios esperados?, ?En verdad esos beneficios valen el costo (financiero/humano/imagen) que se va a pagar?, y, ?Estoy (empresario/CEO/accionista/socio) dispuesto a pagarlo?; 3) óptimo de Pareto, entendido como que no hay ganador sin perdedor y viceversa, ?De que lado me encuentro? ?En qué lado me podrá esta decisión?

Understanding risk is fundamental to entrepreneurship. Teach your students to evaluate risks and potential rewards associated with business decisions. Use case studies and hypothetical scenarios to illustrate the process of risk assessment. Encourage them to consider both the financial and non-financial impacts of their decisions, helping them to develop a balanced approach to risk-taking. For instance, examining the risks and benefits of investing in new technology for a startup can demonstrate the importance of thorough risk assessment, preparing students for real-world business challenges.

Just share your with partners. If you need money look up for investors (not a creditors), if need some things from specific parts (engineering or IT) try to search someone better than you. Build a dream team and be ready for unexpected troubles. Business is always risky, but the best team have chance to win!

Figure out how much it costs to run your life and what is the payoff.

For example, a simulated business project where students create and manage a small business. They would be responsible for budgeting their startup costs, setting prices to achieve desired profit margins, and deciding on investment strategies for growth. This hands-on approach helps students grasp the financial implications of running a business and underscores the importance of financial planning and management. By demystifying financial jargon and concepts, you empower your students to make sound financial decisions, preparing them for real-world entrepreneurial challenges.

Everyone in your dream team must understand basics of economy, finance, accounting, taxation - take a short courses like “Finance for non financial managers”. And arrange someone how can plunge deeper to your financial model (even as a part time consultant). You save your time and money.

Learn the markets, sales , marketing and always do research on your customer , the problem she/he is experiencing .Always learn more in entrepreneurship its a journey not a destination.
