Find someone in audience who is smiling and paying more attention and watching you in the eyes. You will find many people who wish to have eye contact with you. Its natural when we are excited and happy we human make big promises right! Now think of anxiety you will loose the PACE of tongue in both modes right! I find someone in audiece who is laughing or smiling alot and connect with him and disconnect myself from the speech. Its like a FLY coming on your nose and disturbing you while you are talking and i get a chance to make everyone smile. We have to be present in present and create those moments intentionally by engaging with the audience in different ways. Remember your Who, What, Where, When, Why, How.

A way that I warm up before speaking is to have a friend say random nouns to me, and I have to attempt to speak about it as thoroughly as I can until the next noun. I believe this practice helps me stay loose, and it promotes improvisation when the curve balls are thrown my way.

When using stories in your speeches, allow yourself to be vulnerable. If you use third-party characters in your story, make sure it can be verified. If you repeat the story, ensure consistency. Make sure the audience remembers the lessons from your story, even if they forget everything else.

Adaptable content is the more challenging part. I keep extensive notes on every speech. No two are the same because I collect themes and modularity my speech to match the tone of the audience. I never over rehearse. It will sound too rehearsed. It’s like you work it in your mind and then perform it knowing you must change it on the fly. The times I have failed are those times where I thought I knew the needs of the audience. I forgot to enquire through my dialog.

I would just add engaging with your audience and soliciting their participation to help you with demonstrations and by weaving their responses and thoughts into your presentation. Use examples and anecdotes that align to your audience. Include recent events, news or trends where necessary to enhance your appeal. Base your illustrations on the audience industry, challenges and goals. Also pay attention and respond openly and honestly to unexpected questions based on your expertise and experience. Incorporate humor and acknowledge teachable moments when they occur. Prepare thoroughly and create a roadmap and strategic outline that allows you to be flexible and adapt to the emerging needs of your audience

Be true to yourself in each moment. If you're in the middle of something and feel a strong urge to deviate from your plan, embrace it. Often, your body senses things before your mind can rationalise them. If you find yourself in such a moment and it feels right to improvise, go for it. Many beautiful things happen when we allow ourselves to simply be. Stay authentic to yourself and your message. Your audience will sense your sincerity and connect with your message in a way that can't be fabricated.

One of my most loved and praised speeches (a 20-minute speech) was not planned. Here's some gentle encouragement to try giving your next speech completely off the cuff. ? Pick a theme and maybe a few points. ? Memorize the first sentence. ? (Optional) Memorize the last sentence. ? Breathe deeply (but inconspicuously) when you stand at the lectern or on the podium, in front of the room, on stage, etc. ? Look around the entire audience and take it all in. ? As you say your first sentence, look at one or two audience members in the eyes for 3 seconds each. ? When your mind blanks, smile, relax, and think about your points. My improv teacher taught me: Shoulda, woulda, coulda, meaning: Give yourself permission to fail hard. It's fun!
