When applying for temporary or contract translation roles personalize your CV for each position you're considering; make sure you have a suitable and varied press book; don't forget your soft skills; highlight your technical tools; use networking; continually learn the skills you're missing. But in my opinion, it's reverse logic. Let's face it: how many CVs have you prepared... for nothing? How much precious time have we wasted that we could have used to improve our professional expertise? and how much time spent on the web looking for potential contracts? Real professionals didn't worry about all these aspects: they concentrated on their core business and their own expertise. And naturally, they were recognized.
