I have past clients who were business owners. Some experienced very successful ventures while others...not so much. When capturing your experience as a business owner, focus on the positive achievements and attributes that relate to positions you are targeting. Likely, hiring managers are not looking for a "business owner"; rather, they are looking for a candidate who has the skills to fill the open position. Therefore, shift the writing focus to showcase what you did with the business (vs the ownership aspect). Adapt your job title to give a feel relatable to the targeted position. Above all, highlight the value you can deliver.
