I think a student should do two internship , one with well organized company where lean is already implemented and then another industry where work is not organized so he/she will find a lot of improvement opportunities in lean.

first of all it is important to explain well the basics, the theory and above all the context, as I usually say, formidable tools like 6 sigma have not had the success they deserve because they are not correctly contextualized, lean is an approach with various tools but first of all it is a correct analysis of the context of processes and flows

The intern must stay away from computers. He must end the day with feet tired from so much walking! The intern must learn the added value of observation, which is the basis of the scientific method. At the end of the day, he must report to his leader or mentor his observations and learnings, that is, his reflections. Your mentor, in the light of lean culture, must critically discuss opportunities. Perhaps, transform critical thinking into small projects so that the intern feels the real difficulty of implementation.
