Any of us charged with building community outreach for/with the arts, needs to consider points of access and organic connections among individuals and institutions. The arts offer many points of entry - participation as audience member, participation as student/teacher, participation as art activist...and so on. Most importantly meet the novice, community member, where he/she/they are, and build from there.

Recently our community has been voicing a need for a different social interaction outside of the usual. A need for adults to meet and get to know each other more deeply, to share during the week by gathering in a creative space, with similar interest in the company of others. Listening to them about what they want to happen & how to shape it, is very exciting! To be part of something new! Tomorrow we begin 'Kreative Korner'-art/project. Providing a safe space to share & listen to ideas is important. To open the doors. Developing & deepening relationships becomes a reality. Listening well is a two way 'street' communication - which benefits the listener and the one who is heard.

The collaboration in community is key to development for it brings trust, same vision, and understanding the main ajender as you focus on the bigger picture, it is important to concentrate on the details. with this the community projects will automatically success. there is nothing good like community knowing their role in the project that is on going and they are motivated to work.

Make collaboration a part of your organization's culture. Make the collaboration meaningful. Make sure people feel heard and also know that sometimes we all have bad ideas.

This is such a hot topic everywhere. Especially if you are serving minority populations. Making sure your board, committee or whatever reflects and looks like the population you serve so you get all perspectives.

When we begin a session, it is important to say that we need to keep an open mind, show respect by listening to others, and give everyone a chance to speak their mind even if just to say, "I agree with so-and-so". It is by owning up our emotions and our thoughts that we can learn to change ourselves for better synchronicities for actions.

Forming a team is essential for collaborative community impact. A team needs oneness and diversity. These two ideas work in tension to create a dynamic team. Developing teams will take longer, but they become a powerful force when the right atmosphere, leadership, and challenge are present.

Diversity is not limited to color of skin and culture...it's also ways of thinking, beliefs, values and all the things that make us human. Embrace all the parts that are different and unique but a collective experience of all.

If you want to run community workshops, I highly recommend taking courses on group facilitation, or hiring an expert. From the backend, make sure you promote your educational event using the right channels to reach your target audience. And always follow up! In college, I didn't feel like I could educate creatively very often, there were rules and guidelines on how to get your point across, and I was told that I had no passion when presenting. When working with communities that have experienced hardships, celebrating wins, minor and major, is a way to honor the hard work of constituents and acknowledge progress made. As a youth social worker and Discord moderator, celebrating together is key to building strong community bonds. In social work, I organize individual "graduations" for each client to celebrate their achievements: such as their progress and successful completion of treatment. This helps foster their relationships with natural supports and develop a sense of pride for themselves. On Discord, we celebrate our community with events like hosting game and trivia nights, which promote camaraderie and recognition. Life is about relationships. And relationships are created through shared experiences. Anything you can do to bring people together for a common cause or celebration is a win in my book. Get as many people as you can involved in the organizing (within reason) so that people feel ownership and a sense of accomplishment as the event transpires. Celebrate things that bring people together instead of apart. Unity and celebrations around those things heal.

Project management tools are great to help track progress. Communicate regularly within that platform. Avoid emails, which get list in overcrowded inboxes.

Maintaining engagement within a community can be challenging due to the myriad of communication platforms available today. Preferences vary widely, with some individuals favoring Facebook groups, others preferring email, and many still appreciating the personal touch of a phone call. Recognizing that people engage differently based on their unique preferences is crucial. By conducting thorough research and actively listening to community members, you can identify their preferred communication methods. This understanding will enable you to develop a communication plan that effectively sustains engagement.

Have fun and make progress. People engage when they enjoy what they're doing and they disengage when time and efforts are being wasted.

Think creatively. Try to find the right facet of your job that enhances the entity you want to collaborate with. And ignore the times people have shot your ideas down. That doesn't mean that all of your ideas will be fabulous... but sit down and analyze why the idea wasn't good. Ask the person discouraging you what they see that you are missing. Sometimes you can find an easy and effective answer by just digging a little deeper... and those "outside of the box" ideas can end up catching on very quickly.

Be Available. Be steadily and predictably available. It builds trust and allows a forum for small questions and interactions, while creating a foundation to be the first POC when there are big questions or issues.

Relationship building can be easy when and if it's a two-way street. Often, we seek to build relationships with individuals from whom we know we will seek something in the future. However, if we make a relationship by offering our support before asking for anything, people may be more open to allowing that relationship to blossom. Let's build community by contributing to the community first.

Encourage participation at every level. Today's "service user" can begin their journey towards leadership when they are encouraged to try something new, or even when they are given permission to make the tea.
