We grew up connected, sharing ideas and experiences online seamlessly. So it's no surprise that collaboration is key for us. When working remotely, clear goals from the start are essential. It sets the direction, keeps everyone on the same page, and helps us brainstorm and innovate together, even miles apart. Regular Appreciation: Foster a culture of constant gratitude and recognition.

We came of age in a hyper-connected world, and that translates to our work style. We crave collaboration, but traditional office structures don't always cut it. We value flexibility and work-life balance. The commute we used to see as a necessary evil is now a chunk of time we can reclaim for ourselves and our families. Working remotely allows us to be more productive in environments that suit us, and the money saved on gas and professional attire is a bonus. Collaboration is key, but it can't come at the expense of clear boundaries. We appreciate regular feedback to stay on track and feel connected, but video calls shouldn't bleed into evenings and weekends. This new way of working is about efficiency and well-being, and we're here for it.

We do a lot of non work related events virtually. Steps challenges, monthly trivia via Zoom, book clubs, travel photo channels etc. These are great but we also do things in person during off sites like bowling, escape rooms, immersion rooms, and volunteer time, that really allow us to have fun and connect as people too.

Ah yes, bonding in the workplace seems an obvious requirement, no matter if you're remote or not. To keep remote workers connected and engaged, consider using structured activities like virtual book clubs, design thinking workshops, and online games (where it makes sense, of course). I've seen these methods contribute to stronger bonds and higher retention rates. It’s all about creating meaningful connections, even when you're not in the same room.

It’s not a black and white answer. We are in a new time since Covid and people need to resist hoping it will go back and find ways to adapt. For example u used to think we should have “me” and “we” time so if we have a meeting that everyone should come in the office, but now I have adapted and think we should have meeting free days where people come to the office to build relationships and communicate and don’t spend the day huddled in a corner in a teams meeting. #changeorbechanged

Companies can have all the technology, team bonding, feedback and so on - and they are all very important - but the one thing that matters the most could still be lacking. Corporate Culture is the most powerful force on the planet, the true competitive differentiator, one that is conspicuously missing on the balance sheet, and lacking in most remote work groups. While leadership will always remain effectiveness at the point of main effort, leaders must focus with extraordinary urgency on cultivating a well crafted corporate culture for remote groups. Remote companies still need the right corporate culture to be sustainable.

Effective communication and flexible adaptation can make a big difference. Communicating remotely means team members best use of means and mode of communication. This means they must constantly update their ICT-based skills. They must also have good interpretive and presentational communication skills, in addition to and interpersonal skills. Limited or absence of physical contact may reduce risk of having friction and conflicts but it also requires team members to learn and adapt quickly to bond with others and to build and sustain team spirit. Existing approaches to work/tasks need to be tested and adjusted to ensure best results are delivered.
