Being very clear and specific in goals in non-profit organizations is paramount for the success of the organization and the campaign/gifts fundraisers. Also, along with those goals, have open and clear communication among your colleagues and upline management on how those goals and objectives will be reached. The SMART goal process is highly recommended.

So often Managers are very quick to give feedback, yet, they are reluctant to be that vulnerable to ask for it in return. I think the true strength of Managers is that they ask for feedback and they know how to "HONOR" down as much as they do "HONOR" up. Your team will not feel it is a safe place to share openly and also perform at their best when they see elements of hypocrisy. Or, alternatively, if they feel a sense of "Do as I say" "NOT as I do". Credibility is lost in those situations.
