Good advice energizes, builds up, and helps the receiver to put the best foot forward. My mentors helped me understand the theoretical in a very practical way. These lessons have helped me successfully navigate a 27-year career in different facets of my industry. I remember and cherish each learning opportunity.

I would say the right Mentor is almost like a coach who can see the whole company's world, challenge you, help to navigate in different directions and give you feedback. The best scenario is when your mentor wants you to progress and grow.

Invaluable option. And most people will say yes. Although primarily in the same or in a similar industry, I would not limit which you might consider. It’s more about the role than the industry. Not a bad idea to look beyond the ethnicity that you identify with also.

In my experience, the projects I took on are what inspired me to diversify my career. For example, organizing a hackathon was what made me discover my skills passion for event management and piqued my interest in the tech industry. Any opportunity you get to add value to a new project even if it’s outside what you are used to, take it, learn on the job and make impact. That’s how you will discover what you like or don’t like.
