So, here are my 2 cents: Do you find people's attention span have shortened? Is it difficult to make people you don't know pay attention at what you have to say? I've been there and I've discovered a SECRET!!! Want to know what it is? Simple: Ask questions :) How come? You're probably wonder. Make sure you're giving a TALK, not a presentation. Engage people in the conversation by asking them question. Does it make more sense now? Everybody loves the sound of their own voice. So, let them speak But make sure you're the one who's still getting paid for it ;)

So many public speakers start with the idea that I have something to tell the audience. The golden rule for me is to show rather than tell. If you have a personal experience, bring the audience into it with you. If you post on LinkedIn, write in the second person and use reflective questions to get people thinking. If you are on the stage, then pause your story at various points and ask the audience to reflect on what they would do in the situation. The more engaging you are, the more people remember your message. Isn't that what you want from your audience?

This!! I loooove networking, and I also like meeting people. One key thing to do when you meet people is to ask them questions, and allow them to speak and tell you more about themselves. People LOVE to speak about themselves, so let them. However, asking the right questions is key!! And then listen and ask follow up questions. You can then find a strategic moment to ask about their dreams about incorporating speaking to their business, then you can talk about your services. But asking questions and showing interest is great.

The ONE thing I wish I knew before starting my career as a public speaker... It helps you increase your reach by at least 300% in a months period. No, you haven't! But it's THE BEST tool. So, it doesn't matter how good you are, if know one knows about it Make sure to get known Does it mean you shouldn't work on your craft? No! These are parallel streets.
