The only way is to deliver what is needed and expected now and even more in the professional future of your students. You shall exam them during the academic year and on the final exam, but they shall exam and reexam us during the teaching academic term and many more years after. I am 71, and still exemining my professors, valuing more than highlty those who have invested in me not only the tacic knowledge, but more than that skills and critical thinking. Like everything else that matters in life like love, diplomacy, foreing trade, business, politics, you have got to give something in order to get something. This is not an equal exchange, but still I am surprised to witness that my teaching is still giving me emotional rewards...

Recognize that teacher leadership is not about being a lone hero but working collectively. Sure, it's easier to lecture others, (I like that, haha) but oh, how much more interesting it is to discuss matters! The future of teaching is less about knowing content, and more about inspiring students. Fostering relationships with students is crucial to the learning process.

I hate to use the buzz phrase, but we are lifelong learners. The best classes and strongest relationships I've had with classes occurred while I was learning with the class. The ability to model finding, filtering and critically evaluating information; as well as sharing lightbulb moments with a class cultivates enthusiasm for the process and the content.

Build your personal brand. Let people know you beyond being a teacher. Allow them see the value you bring beyond the classroom by sharing your experiences. Build helpful connections with colleagues as well as mentor-mentee relationships. Inspire and motivate others as you journey through your career.
