Here's how you can ensure student success as an educational leader.

Open communication, positive relationships and a kind and gentle smile can totally transom a child’s educational experience.

Teachers, as educational leaders, can ensure the success of their students by: 1. _Setting clear goals and expectations_: Establishing high standards and communicating them clearly. 2. _Creating a supportive learning environment_: Fostering a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom culture. 3. _Personalizing learning_: Tailoring instruction to meet individual students' needs and abilities. 4. _Providing constructive feedback_: Offering regular, specific, and actionable feedback to guide improvement. 5. _Encouraging active learning_: Engaging students in hands-on, inquiry-based, and collaborative learning experiences. 6. _Building relationships_: Developing strong, empathetic connections with students .

Students need to be involved to be successful. Invite them in the decision making about them and ask for input. This could be done through focus groups or via the student council. They are key in their own success and can feedback if the hoped-for impact is as lasting as we as educators would like it to be.

It's not the size of rewards or sanctions that modify behaviours, it's the certainty that they will come. This provides clarity and helps build trust and security. Focus on what students can do and reward them for doing so. Show them the next steps and enable them to take them by providing only the required support, t doing hat shows you have seen and understood where they are at on their learning journey. Reward them again for their efforts/bravery in stepping beyond their comfort zone.

Empowering colleagues builds collective efficacy and this then supports teachers to teach confidently . A whole school approach or a whole team approach is key to improving student outcomes.in my role as EAL/D specialist teacher I ensure that data collected is shared with colleagues so that they know the needs of students from a language background other than English . Teaching strategies are modelled to colleagues in positive team teaching environments.These sessions are followed by dialogue, feedback and debrief opportunities.

Separate staff development/ performance management from appraisal to avoid the fear that seeking help, acknowledging relative weakness, being professionally observed may lead to adverts impact on pay or progression. Instead, build a coaching culture of continuous professional development.

Utilize Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavioral Supports (PBIS) to achieve this goal. Connecting the home with the school and providing wraparound supports will ensure the most effective outcome.

Personalising learning experiences for students is central to encouraging engagement and positive interactions.Know your students and how they learn from your very first encounter with them .Give them a task and observe them while at the same time being a presence and support for them as they work .Which student readily acknowledges that they need help ;which student is getting into avoidance mode ; which student is willing to complete the task but only with reassurance from you .These anecdotal notes are important as it validates other initial data acquired about your students .This pre test /diagnostic phase then empowers you to plan personalised learning .

Despite our focus on inclusive schools, teachers of English Learners (ELs) are often left out of key committees and leadership roles where crucial decisions are made. But ELs are the fastest-growing student group in U.S. schools. Including EL teachers in important conversations gives them the opportunity to advocate for these students as critical decisions about their education are being made. This advocacy is especially important as many EL families may face barriers in navigating the U.S. school system on their own. To truly foster inclusivity, examine how your school solicits and implements feedback from EL teachers. Their voices enrich school-wide discussions and help create schools that truly support all students.
