Getting communication right is a very important skill, but IMHO there is no one-size-fits-all solution - Anything that your manager should know immediately (eg Urgent Escalations/Severity1 Incident etc) : Call your manager or f2f. - Project Updates/Team Updates/OKR Status etc - One Pager Email/ppt, with summary of the initiative, actions being taken, challenges where you need your boss's help, what's delivered and what's pending, AND when to expect the Next Update.
