A complex challenge can be daunting at first - the unknown ins and outs of a maze seem overwhelming when you don't know where you are going. As you continue to go down different paths and discover the way the 'maze' was constructed, you begin to build appreciation for the constructor. Likewise, if you were to build a maze yourself, you would not build one that is simply a straight path to the end. Sometimes, the beauty is in the complexity and exploring different corners and paths, whether they be in a literal or metaphorical field of work.

Not all problems are complex but there are complex ways to solve problems!. In my experience always pursue simplicity. In some cases simple is not easy, but the real genius is always in making a complex problem become easy. Organizations generally try to solve problems in quality, accuracy,etc with “tough” process controls that are never designed with the mindset that humans will follow it. We don’t like complexity, people always look for convenience. Our whole economy is built on convenience services. Why would we implement solutions or processes that are so complex that we end up not following at all? Where is the value of that? Takes more effort to be simple when solving complex problems but that’s the correct way to go.

There is always a solution for everything, the importance of analyzing every situation is that sometimes you don’t need a solution for all, because most times they interconnect

A different approach is the solution for the problem that's a challenge. It also brings in the best of the employees and make them think out of the box.

I belong to a young adult leadership orgnization at one point of time and it taught me a lot about the importance of planning both long and short term. One of the things that became very clear is the importance of planning even what might appear to be the simpliest project or program for it to be successful. I am reminded of the saying that if you fail to plan, then you a planning to fail. Everyone focuses on the up front of pre-planning to a strategy, but how many document what happened, good, bad or indifferent, then assessed the plan after implementation. When a task is finished, it's easy to consider it done and dusted. It's important to go back and conduct post mortems, ensuring that proper documentation has been established for future executors of the tasks, as well as lessons learned for other projects, whether they be directly or indirectly applicable. These can be self reflective, or even asking a teammate for quick feedback, such as "how do you think I handled that?" These quick, in the moment reviews are often much more impactful than saving up for quarterly or even annual reviews, when we are so far removed from the day to day.

Know that you cannot possibly know everything. Hire the right people who are experts at their craft and trust that they will supply you with the right pieces you need in order to complete the puzzle in front of you. Complex problems are just a series of smaller problems rolled together.

You must always have a Plan A & Plan B in anything should not work. You plan for the best but prepare for the worst. You should sit down with your team and think about what could go wrong. Think through how to make it idiot proof. Should that fail what's next. If this happens then what?

The key to solve is to simplify. However small/big a problem is it’s important to break it down into steps and resolve step by step. Sometimes we complicate the problem in our own head and are not able to see the simple solutions.
