Here's how you can enhance manufacturing operations with feedback.

Work environments where production takes place should be environments where people give feedback to each other, share the work done well and correctly, or share problems without fear. Especially mistakes should be shared without fear so that much bigger problems do not occur later. Managers at all levels should accept developing and encouraging this feedback culture as a main task.

With a previous organization we monitored KPI. It is beneficial to include the production team to the KPI/Gemba walks focusing on metrics. I led the meetings explaining the challenges and sometimes it led to a Kaizan or problem solving level best with the production team involved. In certain departments we added digital counter tally's to monitor complications with a machine or quality per hour. This is beneficial in production to show the data for pain when you know the equivalent's problem rate and evaluation of defects. Always keep your production team involved and appreciate their contributions.

By building trust and acknowledging their ideas and their concerns, you are then able to observe and map out the process to find the areas of opportunity. So listening and engaging the employees is the most critical part of enhancing manufacturing operations.

Prioritize operations that are the bottleneck . System can go as fast as it slowest operation . Before jumping to improve an operation , analysis of the entire system is needed

First of all, a strategy regarding with how you operate should be identified. I always 5 emphasize 5 critical parameters. 1. safety ( number one priority shall be always wellbeing of people and process) 2. Efficiency 3. Reliability 4. Sustainability 5. Quality / customer focus. Then we must translate these strategies into action at processing site. But how? Again 5 important acts and behaviours to be provided and personnel shall be trained to have these. 1. High level of operational discipline (from top to bottom) 2. Efficient communication. 3. Collaboration 4. High level of compliance 5. Taking the initiative When required.
