I see too many leaders fall into the trap of going through the motions, yet lacking authenticity. Valuing stakeholder voices is not just asking for feedback, but listening with an open mind and allowing others input to alter the direction or outcome. Trust is built with every small interaction, so a leader should not rely on team building activities or feedback surveys.

Leaders are expected to be decision-makers. Once a decision is made, leaders must fully commit to following through with absolute confidence. The outcome, good or bad, is secondary to leadership facing uncertainty with an assertive demeanor. One can always pivot. However, trust is built by a leader exhibiting authenticity, logical reasoning, and genuine care for their employees. A leader is not expected to be clairvoyant or never make a bad decision. However, a leader who cultivates trust makes everyone feel heard and their opinions valued. Even if people disagree, they will support a leader who is trustworthy. The benefit of the doubt will be there.

It has lots of advantages such as defining the issue well, objectivity, analysis, clearness on the context, being focused on goals, recognition of options and measuring risks. In addition, clarity brings structured apprach and believing in yourself. When you start collecting data to support your decision making, clarity becomes the source of transparency through process and it yields to fine, pure outcomes.

I've learned that simplicity in communication does more than convey a message—it builds understanding and trust. Avoiding industry jargon and cutting straight to the heart of the issue ensures that everyone is on the same page.

This is something which I believe is very important as a leader. We should not assume our team mates will understand, even if they do it is always better to have clear communication wrt your expectations from them, the timeline, the scope and who is responsible for the task. By clear communication we reduce ambiguity and confusion. It also helps avoid misunderstanding between the peers. Also, I have noticed as a leader if we are good in communication the team trusts you better this overall helping in decision making.

To be a good educational leader it is very much necessary to enhance the confidence of teammates because educational matters are very important in nation building and no one can deny that the team's confidence is the essence of powerful leadership. It will also give an idea regarding at what stage the of the process decision went wrong.It may be then shared with the Team so as to get suggestions regarding decision making process. It is a fallacy that only older “experienced” people are capable of leading in educational institutions. Equally, it is a pity that young people often shy away from opportunities to lead. When approached to engage in exciting opportunities like sharing of best practice or to participate in progressive ventures like situational leadership, a young educator often declines, claiming to be inexperienced. She would do well, rather, to be assertive and self-confident. After all, it was a belief in her credentials that prompted the invitation in the first place. Experience of ten years can be repetition of the first year ten times or it could be an increase in proficiency and stature ten times over. A growth mindset is what it takes.

The humility to accept this - because you can doesn't mean you are the only one who can! Being humble is a key component of leadership in the education industry. We play in the field of knowledge, and we all know that knowledge is progressive. While we may have propounded a great theory, it can be countered by the next research scholar within a short amount of time. That strategy that looks stellar may become obsolete in a few months. Having the humility to remain a life-long learner who can learn from both young and old is a great attribute of leaders in education.

Listening to learn, hearing the perspective of others, and not paying lip service is of utmost importance. Leaders build trust or destroy trust with all interactions. Make it an opportunity to grow and learn. Harness trust and your establishment will flourish.
