What I generally observed is teams try to cover more and more number of test cases so that they cover most functionalities of application; but its not true. Actually there is one principle named as ‘Pareto Principle’ or normally its known as ‘Pareto Chart’. ?? In simple language, 80% of risks come from 20% of application and 20% of risk come from 80% of application!! So, our main focus is to cover that 20% of application test cases so that 80% risks are covered. This Risk Based approach is required in any kind of testing project and this can be developed from proper functional knowledge and experience.
