For Project Tracking tools we can use JIRA,Trello and some Kanban Tools which are helpful in tracking the project milestone,status, dependency and etc. For Version control we can use GitLab,GitHub.

They just help work everything out so nicely.

Regular updates are necessary to track projects. Anything that's not measured/tracked usually tends to off track. Also regular updates also aids in diverting more resources to tasks that turn out to be more challenging. On our project, we constantly update our tickets with comments sharing challenges, notes, delays or if we need to prioritize/deprioritize. For the stakeholders like product owner and VPs of department, weekly status update meetings are sufficient in my opinion.

Number of PRs/features merged in 4. Total time spent on tasks. 5. If the deliverables are being delivered on time. Percentage of deliverables which fulfilled/missed deadlines. Reviewing these metrics is crucial to make sure a project is going on track or at least to know if it'll be on track!!

I would suggest listing all small and actionable task for your project in one place, like Notion, Excel, Jira, or any other tool you prefer. This helps you easily track progress, mark off completed tasks, identify obstacles, manage extra work, and keep everything on schedule.
