This was a learned skill for me and did not always come naturally! I try to acknowledge the effort it takes to give feedback—it's often as challenging to provide as it is to receive. This simple act of thanking them recognizes the time and effort they put in and helps turn the interaction into a positive experience. It strengthens relationships and promotes a culture of open communication and growth. Even if it's hard feedback to hear, sharing gratitude and acknowledging their commitment to your learning, growth, and relationship is important. There's usually at least a nugget that rings true for me, and I appreciate the opportunity to reflect and improve.
