People Often Focus on Certain Techniques/Methods to Address these Situations, But I Firmly Believe in being Flexible and Trying to Understand Your Playground and It's Players More than the Techniques itself.

If you’re judging your product managers based on how well they can deliver product features by defined deadlines, you have missed the point of product management.

As a PM deadlines are important but its more important for me to prioritise what I am actually doing. I need to work on the highest leverage things that are driving towards the objectives of my team. What am I doing this week to help achieve our objectives and help achieve maximum customer value. For me this supersedes any deadlines that do not directly drive towards this.

The GTM of a product is by far the most important part of the entire product process. If this is not artfully planned out, all the hard work in development will not matter. I always argue that the main deadline that matters is the external launch GTM date. This is the moment from which the product gets evaluated on its success. I tend to have engineering set dev milestones ahead of that, a QA/testing period before the GTM milestone. It's critical to incorporate the non-EPD elements before your GTM milestone as well.
