All of the 6 things listed above are good ideas - for any cross-functional team. Having worked in Finance, I know that getting multiple perspectives is important. What is also valuable is to get input outside of Finance because it provides key information - operational context. Finance makes a lot of key decisions, based on data. Understanding the implications, or reasons for things like increasing costs, margins, capital, etc. is important. Talk to the people in those organizations. They can tell you not just what is happening but why, and what is being done about it - some of the first questions you know you'll be asked.
