A demanding boss will usually expect you to do your best and perhaps do it in an instant, with no breathing space for you, every assignment has to be perfect and there will be lots of work waiting for you from a demanding boss, it's almost like the only thing you should do is 'work'. To handle such a boss, you need to understand his work ethic and be ready to work at his or her pace. Ensure you deliver every assignment as and when due because there is no excuse for non-performance for him. Deposit into his emotional bank account too. That can go a long way.

Talk to folks who know the person well, and ask if there have been strategies that they've used to work well with this person. You might also ask if there has been a pattern of micromanagement and/or conflict between this person and the people they supervised, and how those situations were resolved.
