While we are generating new ideas/unique design concept, we will under go several design iterations, in each iterations will learn new things & will think better for next iteration. Creativity will come through continuous improvement.

Detail any unique solutions you've developed for complex engineering problems. Explain the challenges and how your approach was different or more effective.

There are many ways to represent your skills in the Design showcase your new learning what can you do using your skills and knowledge in an innovative ways that added value in your portfolio.

Showcase your creativity by including unique design projects, innovative solutions to common problems, and any patents or prototypes. Use visuals like CAD models and animations to make your work stand out.

Portfolio Development is important for showcasing relevant projects and accomplishments to potential employers. Career Planning involves setting long-term goals and objectives in our chosen field of study. Engagement in these activities can help we become successful by providing knowledge of current trends within the engineering field, networking opportunities with potential employers or peers, gaining practice during job interviews, portfolio development that accurately reflects all of the work you have done thus far, and proper career planning that will allow we to achieve our desired goals. Furthermore, engaging in these activities will provide insight into what is expected from entry-level engineers within the industry.

Ensuring a long run-time could be a hurdle while developing underwater robots! The underwater robot which my team had developed to participate in TAC Challenge 2024, had to operate for a minimum of 45 minutes in order to achieve the missions. To avoid an unnecessary increment of the number of batteries required for the robot operation, I brainstormed options to solve it mechanically. The hull was redesigned and fabricated to improve weight distribution of the entire vehicle. Through this process the buoyancy was managed, to cancel out the robot weight, making the robot capable of operating for a longer duration without continuously powering the thrusters. Thus making the underwater robot to run up to 52 minutes!

Gathering the data and analyse conventionally then try to apposite viewing will lead you to come with the out of the box idea. Offcourse, code and acceptance criteria shall be accomodated.

Problem solving starts with your own experiences and studying how others have dealt with changes similar to your own. Thinking back to the thought process of your past creations can carve the wave for how you will act on the next problem. Code will often guide most of the design for you. Try to design with some wiggle room for your creativity while also keeping everything safe.

Working collaboratively is by far one of the quickest ways to innovation and improvement. In a project, the electrical team had developed a propensity to follow conventional wirings during assembly and dis-assembly of the robot, which was time consuming. On observation, mechanical team suggested changes in design. This proved to be beneficial in rerouting the entire wirings of the bot and reducing assembly time by 50%. Teamwork can be rewarding!

Proficiency of software offers numerous benefits for mechanical engineers, enhancing their capabilities in various aspects of their work. For example: if a mechanical engineer is in the design field then with the help of CAD Software, enhancing precision and efficiency of the design process. With the help of simulation software (ANSYS) predicting the performance and reliability of design before the physical prototype. # In the product development department we can use PLM software ( product lifecycle management) tools. It helps to manage the entire lifecycle of a product from inception through engineering design and manufacturing. This improves collaboration, reduces errors and accelerates time to market.

CAD isn't just for designing, it's also for analysis! CAD designing software like Solidworks, Fusion360 and so on also give you an option to apply materials to your designed parts. You can then locate the exact data of the center of mass and deduce stability. This can be a new way for you to make design improvements.

My interest in engineering began through the personal projects I indulged myself in, as a child. I've been keen on building bots, and to savor this interest I used to build miniature version for display at Science Exhibitions. I have enjoyed making projects for my utility and then displaying it to the public, to learn more from an outer perspective.

Don't shy away from including personal projects that reflect your passion for mechanical engineering and creativity. These projects can be particularly telling of your drive and innovative spirit. Discuss what inspired you and the challenges you faced during these ventures. Personal projects can often demonstrate a level of creativity and passion that contracted work may not always allow.

It is always best to be a learner. A learner is open to questions and experiments. This showcases the open mindset which is utmost required as the team leader and problem solving. Thinking outside of the box can truly be experienced when one keeps on learning. It is always said that one can only teach if he has learnt it. This fast generation of ours with rapid development and Industry 4.0 the learning of the new technologies, their uses and applications can only be broadened if we all keep on learning and bring our ideas, products in the world.

Learnability has been identified as one of the top sought after skills. Continuous learning broadens your knowledge. As most of us know, Mechanical Engineering discipline is broad and so are the tools and applied technology. While you may not be a master of all, it is important to have what it takes to fit in to more than one industry requiring the application of Mechanical Engineering principles.

“Your work IS your brand” Although along with consistent branding, the engineering portfolio needs to combine storytelling and visuals. Having too much text with no photos on your site, or vice versa, is a one way ticket to bad portfolio land. You need a good balance between the two to make it work. Whether working on prototyping, or any other design one needs to craft interesting and eye-catching visuals that showcase the essence of their work. But most important is keeping the portfolio simple and easy to navigate.
