Experience shows, that collaborative work on strategy documents differs slightly from other objectives: My assumption is, that there are two underyling causes; firstly, strategy papers have a higher internal linkage/need for consistency and secondly, the requirements arising from the dependecy to the overarching vision is unmatched. Usually here it helps to define the roles in a true "divide and conquer"-manner, while putting a lot of focus, diligence and effort in making the team understand the vision in the same way as if it initially came out of their own mind.

Just to highlight: IT strategy and it's execution focuses on the long-term horizon. Here, it's not about IT delivery roles (e.g. Product Owner) but on the modeling of an IT landscape in the next 3-5 years and deriving transition architectures. I personally recommend involving Business Owners and experts as well as Enterprise, Application, Data and Technology Architects as well as Information Security experts.

Delegar implica confiar, transmitir una responsabilidad, no únicamente la realización de una actividad. Delegar implica apostar por el crecimiento de la otra persona. Comunicación bidireccional y aprendizaje continuo. Es una apuesta de futuro, no del presente.

As per good role definition, changes and progress need to be communicated in a timely and attentive manner. Also, due to the high degree of internal cohesion of strategic papers, bottom-up feedback from within the creation process, is key to achive great (and thus consistent) results.

When initializing your strategy implementation team, collect all necessary resources (incl needed expertize) and note down the access points and sources for utilizing the resources.
