Since these work on large language models, for external indicators, these work the best. Third

I focus on monitoring economic indicators, such as inflation rates, employment figures, and market trends, which can signal shifts in the economic landscape. Additionally, I keep an eye on technological advancements that may disrupt existing processes or create new opportunities, as well as shifts in consumer behavior that could indicate changing preferences or demands. To cultivate the proactive mindset ; 1. Develop the mindset & practices to have “ecosystem view” or say “outside in perspective” where each one sees beyond organisation. 2. Inclination towards predictive capabilities - both objectively through leveraging advance tech tools & intuitively through risk sensing approach. 3. Paradigm shift in seeing opportunity side of risk.

This approach involves continually updating risk assessments based on new data and trends, ensuring strategies remain effective. It's valuable because it transforms reflection into an active, forward-thinking process. By dynamically mapping risks, you can identify threats early, adapt to industry changes, and make informed decisions to mitigate future risks. To cultivate a proactive mindset for predicting future risks in your industry through regular reflection, consider these steps: Set aside regular intervals, such as weekly or monthly, to reflect on recent developments and trends in your industry. Keep a journal to document observations, insights, and potential risks you identify during your reflections. Analyze past decisions and their outcomes to learn from successes and mistakes. Regularly conduct SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analyses to identify potential risks and opportunities. Create a feedback loop with your team to gather diverse perspectives and insights during reflection sessions.

Whilst all the above 5 areas are necessary, for me no 6. Reflect regularly is critical. As a risk manager the big difference is to identify risks that are not in the model. In essence the assumption you are making needs revisiting. This comes with experience and like an anthropologist it is about understanding human nature.

Have Management & employee offsite where people can honestly evaluate and assess the data. Ensure that influential managers are not attending these meetings until the evaluation is complete. Then have feedback meetings with all levels of management and employees.

Challenge the way Lessons Learned culture can be improved. I have experienced companies neglect the importance of experiences made by good collegues during executing projects. I have even filed a Lessons Learned: "Lessons Learned are not used!".... And strange enough no one commented on that....
