Recently during a session with a corporate team I explored the application of the 3Cs. Leading with Courage, Control, and Communication. I spoke about engaging your team, by focusing on three core principles: 1. Courage- Lead with courage by making tough decisions and embracing challenges. Courage inspires your team to step out of their comfort zones and take initiative. 2. Control- Maintain control by managing your emotions and staying composed under pressure. This creates a stable environment where your team feels secure and confident. 3. Communication- Communicate clearly and consistently. Transparent communication ensures your team understands the mission and feels empowered to contribute.

Empowering your team isn’t just about delegating tasks; it’s about creating an environment where autonomy is valued. Develop mentoring programs that connect more experienced team members with new ones, fostering mutual growth. Additionally, implementing decentralized decision-making tools fosters innovation and accountability. These practices not only strengthen team capabilities, but also leverage organizational effectiveness by enabling everyone to become a co-creator of the company’s success.

Self reflection is extremely helpful to hone your leadership style and skills. Good leaders find time on a daily basis to reflect. One of the approaches which I use with my leadership coaching clients is journaling. Write down daily (even if it for 20 mins) before going to bed how you behaved during the work day in various situations. Pay attention to the emotions you experienced with each situation - for example while giving direction to your team or while interacting with you boss or while communicating your ideas. By merely writing down the events of the day and your behaviour, your self awareness level increases. Over a short period of time, next time under the similar situation, you will behave differently and get better outcomes.

Continuous reflection is the secret to evolving as a leader. You could just take time to assess both successes and setbacks, then evaluate what works and what needs adjustment. When you do this, it helps you to adapt to changing circumstances and ensures that your leadership remains effective and responsive to your team's evolving needs.

Regularly assess what’s working and where improvements can be made, both in how you lead and how your team is performing. Encourage open feedback from your team and be willing to adapt as needed. By continuously reflecting and improving, you create an environment that promotes growth, trust, and engagement.
