In my view it's always important to design and deploy AI systems that prioritize human values and well-being. In AI careers, fostering this approach involves understanding the real-world contexts in which AI operates and the human lives it impacts. By integrating ethical considerations and focusing on enhancing human capabilities rather than replacing them, professionals can cultivate a deeper empathy for users. This mindset encourages the development of AI solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also socially responsible, ensuring that technology serves to support and uplift communities effectively.

To solve someone's problems, you need to empathize with them. The more I read these articles, written by AI and asking for expert contributions, the more I notice that AI is doing a great job of learning from us. That said, it is anything but Human-Centric. In fact, it's the opposite - this section reads like something written by a stone cold robot. It lacks an understanding of what it means to be human, and quickly divests responsibility for that role - handing it off to ethicists and sociologists to maintain the focus on societal implications so that the AI experts can design systems that are "considerate" of human values and norms. The word "considerate" is concerning. If AI is HUMAN-Centric, then it would not be "considerate" of human values and norms; rather, it would be built upon them.

Considering a diverse range of perspectives, including those of ethicists, sociologists, and other stakeholders, we can ensure that AI development remains mindful of human values while also pushing the boundaries.

AI needs an emotional side to be able to collaborate with humans better on a much deeper level. ??Start by actively developing self-awareness and empathy. ??Understand your own emotions and how they influence your behavior and decision-making. ??Engage in active listening to truly grasp the perspectives and concerns of colleagues, stakeholders, and users. ??Foster empathy by putting yourself in their shoes, which enhances collaborative efforts and user-centered design. ??Practice clear and empathetic communication, ensuring that all parties feel heard and valued. ??Regularly seek feedback to improve interpersonal skills and build stronger professional relationships.

Paraphrasing to make sure you understood is another great way to make sure you are on the same page. Summarising the discussion and asking for feedback on your understanding opens doors to sharing, better collaboration and by that in you providing a better service to your stakeholders.

The best option is to be experts in our own area of expertise and know the basics of the other areas so we can understand your team members with different backgrounds and build a more cohesive team.

Today’s LLMs are massive and among plain vanilla questions, even with a few examples, will lead to outcomes that may not fully align with your intent. For example, a simple question like “What is the best ice cream flavor I should try?” can produce outcomes that are not really aligned with your personal preferences. Good outcomes depend on good guidelines and examples. And when you design LLM applications for users, it is important to understand your target users’ preferences and encode that in your instructions. That will help you gain the right outcomes

Strong human-machine collaboration is not that much a matter of output generation but more a matter of developing an AI solution that is tailored to human intuition - indicating a high focus on user experience. Time of skilled professionals is one of the most valuable and scarce sources. A good understanding of what it takes to give professionals more time through efficiency in an impactful move. I believe the competitive edge will be allocated to AI solutions that cater to this.

Picture yourself as an architect designing a home, not just to stand up but to be livable. Apply this user-centric approach to AI by involving users in the design process, understanding their challenges, and anticipating their needs. This can lead to more intuitive AI systems that enhance users’ lives.

User centric design = human centric design. In otherwords, an area that AI can't help or be empathetic. This isn't AI-centric design.

During the supervised training sessions, a large set of datasets are required for the development of ML models. Surely, in order to incorporate empathy with the AI models, it is necessary that it is trained on the basis of those datasets. Now this large amount of data is not a joke that it can be collected within a short duration. In fact, successful AI models have history of being trained with data that are being collected over years. This is why for integrating empathy within AI, it is mandatory to create campaigns for collecting large feedback loops over years if required as it can be really revolutionary ??

Learn to understand the implications of the future of work: the more tasks will be taken over by bots, the more we will develop our need for something meaningful in our work. Taking the human being of the human-machine collaboration in account will provide a better understanding of the true value of empathy - emotional intelligence DOES positively impact bottom-line results.
