Beyond coming up with smart goals, also think about the tangible outcomes you can facilitate for your audience so they walk away with some percentage of progress toward their desired outcome. I often like to set goals related to completing the less desirable early steps because those are the ones that usually hold people back from even starting on the journey. Pick the scariest early step on the journey and make that one of your session goals. Your ideal participant will appreciate the opportunity to do the scariest steps in a community rather than alone.

Consider including 2-3 follow-up Q&A sessions in the immediate 6-8 weeks following your session in order to keep the momentum alive! Remember, as facilitators, we are ultimately in it to help people achieve real and long-lasting transformation. This is rarely achieved in one session or even a couple of days. Our attendees will be heading back to a "real world" of nay sayers, objections, and obstacles that we protected them from in our session. Follow up sessions offer them a chance to stay on the path even when that path gets bumpy.

Career change like entrepreneurship requires a lot of discovery and validation. Make sure that attendees are equipped with a repeatable way to learn from as many people as possible. Simply picking a new career destination is the same as coming up with a business idea and building it without talking to potential customers or people in that market. That business will likely fail as would that new career pursuit. Discovery, research, and validation are key to any career change.
