Connecting education and industry is crucial for ensuring that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the workforce. A few innovative approaches to bridging the gap between education and industry can be collaborative research projects between academia and industry, creating entrepreneurship and innovation hubs on campus, and organizing industry-sponsored competitions such as hackathons, design challenges, and innovation contests.

For years I've emphasized 1st doing research that unearths truths, i.e. my '88 Ford doctoral dissertation, "Emmett Louis Till: The Impetus of the Modern CRM (U of IA), published in '94 as "Emmett Till: The Sacrificial Lamb of the CRM." I teach those truths to my students, thus, passing to our future generations. As we are all members of 1 race, the Human Race, made up of a multiple ethnicities, we can better come together to bring forth true Social Justice for all. My 5th book, during the pandemic (in-press), is a 100-pager, an overview of Africana Womanism; all my books stress that "We're all in it together. . . collectively working, I Got Your Back, Boo." ('09 poem in "Africana Womanism" ('20 & '23) & "Africana-Melanated Womanism" ('22).

Our students highly appreciate "learning by doing" and are consistently more engaged in hand-on training compared to theoretical courses. Practical experiences such as business simulations, company projects, company visits, apprenticeships enable them to aquire knowlegde and practical skills in an interactive participative way which is essential for their future carreers.

The concepts we learn in the classroom become beneficial when they are linked to their real life applications. This gives students real life experiences of what they learn in the classrooms. To achieve this, it is therefore imperative that students are given industry experience. This will facilitate the process and bring to fruition the full understanding of all concepts taught in the classroom.

I leverage experiential learning as a dynamic tool for students to bridge theoretical concepts with real-world applications. I facilitate opportunities such as internships, cooperative education programs, and project-based learning initiatives that involve collaborations with businesses in our local community. By integrating these hands-on experiences into the curriculum, I offer students invaluable exposure to industry practices and workplace dynamics. This approach not only enriches their learning experiences but also enhances their desirability to potential employers by equipping them with practical skills and industry insights that go beyond traditional classroom instruction.

Project-based learning is central to my teaching approach to dissolve the boundaries between schools/colleges and the "real-world". I often present a high-stakes opportunity to the students (usually an opportunity forged with industry partners) and guide them in the process. They assume leadership roles, learn authentic collaboration, problem-solve complexities and produce learning products that surpass what can be taught in the insular classroom.

Experiential learning is great. But it's nothing if you don't implement it with a trial and error culture, especially for students. So if you decide to onboard students and deploy apprenticeship in your company, do it in a safe space for errors. It's the best way to learn and innovate on the way.

While hard skills are important, it's really soft skills that make the biggest impact on a learner's long-term career and ability to continue learning. Critical Thinking, Communication, Problem-solving, and teamwork are going to be fundamental to any job they student obtains and at any level. Take the time as a teacher to help them develop those skills early, in your classroom and give them a leg up as they move forward with their career.

While theoretical knowledge holds significance, I place a significant emphasis on cultivating soft skills and competencies like problem-solving, communication, and teamwork in my teaching approach. Recognizing that these skills are highly sought after by employers and can distinguish candidates in the job market, I design my curriculum to incorporate activities that actively develop these attributes in students. The additional skills may be one of the best solutions for students to gain to enter the job market after graduation, which will be beneficial. For instance, if you've learned about artificial intelligence during your studies in computer science, you should apply it in an internship program to learn more about it. You can become a marketing intern in the tech industry too, which will benefit students' experiences before graduation. For the school itself, try to be more open-minded to students' needs and try to give the students a chance to taste what they want to learn about; this will be beneficial and increase their happiness in life.

As I mentioned in the first prompt, I'd like to consider the industry to make a good curriculum and gather others to make it happen, and try to like this; if you want to write something, you need to make sure you also think about the positive and negative impact of it. These will be an advantage for us and minimize the program's failure. However, you may evaluate every program once it is finished so the program will be sustainable as expected.

Industry-supported accreditation of degree programmes can go a long way towards ensuring alignment of course curricula with industry standards, along with developing course content in response to emerging trends. This keeps students' subject - specific knowledge current, while assuring them of the wider relevance of their degree outside of academia. One example I've come across is the Education Recognition Programme (ERP) of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in the United States, allowing for the curricula in Sports Science degrees to be assessed and counted towards attaining either a Personal Trainer (PT) or a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) qualification after students graduate.

There is nothing more important in my view than giving a student the confidence to be curious about the world around them. This curiosity will nurture a love of learning forever and will allow students to thrive in a changing world.

Lifelong learning is a mindset. When teaching my graduate students, I stress the importance of having a growth mindset. With every experience there are always opportunities to grow and learn something new. I encourage students to make it a practice of reflecting on their personal and professional growth by keep a growth journal. Not only does this help them to reflect on their growth, but also positions them to notice untapped areas where they may need to refine or enhance their knowledge and skills.

Finally, instill the importance of lifelong learning in your students. The needs of the industry are constantly changing, and the ability to adapt and continue learning is vital. Encourage students to view their education as a foundation upon which they can build throughout their careers. Teach them to learn independently and stay updated with industry trends, ensuring they remain valuable assets in their respective fields long after graduation.

I definitely agree. One basic advice I would give to students as preparations for a lifelong learning graduation to the real world is; Learn, Unlearn, and Relearn. Such an attitude will take you far in this lifelong learning experience and world.

Students need to know that their values should align with industry, task them with assignments that invite exploration of local businesses alongside deep reflection of their ethos related to work. Through this, they will find opportunities they never expected, and begin emotionally satisfying careers.

Aside from directly sponsoring department-based events organized by the teachers for their students, why not sponsor events organized by the students themselves? This will boost students' trust on your company/brand. Imagine creating an impact on hundreds or even thousands of students and making them have the time of their lives during their events.

I see that theoretical learning will not be changing a lot to enter the practical part in education in curriculum. For that, we should focus on developing the vocational education and start educate people on how it is good as the theoretical learning .
