There will always be one or two languages which we consider cool. For me, that would be Rust and Zig. Go ahead and learn and explore them. Look at the marketed USP of the language and see if that necessary/applicable to you. For example, Rust is marketed to be memory safe and fast. But, that USP would not be very useful for a web-developer and Rust is not the easiest language to write a web-server in.

Depending on where you want to work, the stacks (and therefore languages) you need to remain competitive will be dictated by the subset of tech you'll be working in.
