When it comes to community services, most of the organizations championing the activities are non profit organizations. Personally, I believe salary discussion with a profit oriented organisation and a non profit organizations should not be handled the same way. While it's important that your skill and efforts should be appreciated financially. It's more important that potential team members understand that community activities is beyond financial reward, it's more about selflessness, impact making, commitment and humanity. More than agreeing to pay you whatever we both agree, I would want to be sure that we have shared values towards humanity. N.B: I'm not saying community based organizations should not pay their workers well.
