We also don’t want to perpetuate stereotypes in the curriculum being taught to students whose identities don’t fall within the margins. As educators, we want to be culturally competent enough to be able to acknowledge and recognize stereotypes, biases, truth and untruth in the resources that we offer. Cultural competence is an ongoing learning journey for us and our students.
