Very good point! Going beyond GIS, statistical software such as R or SPSS is very helpful for quantitatively assessing trends and outcomes. Urban planners might use these tools to perform regression analyses and understand the impact of different variables like public transit access on property values, and also to analyse demographic data to forecast future housing needs. Other interesting tools I used in the past are data visualisation platforms like Tableau or Power BI - great means to enhance the ability to communicate findings effectively to different audiences. Also big data analytics tools can be helpful. They can process large volumes of data from sources like social media and mobile tracking data - for example Hadoop or Apache Spark

Impact evaluation for urban policy is important as it shows the efficiency and effectiveness of measures adopted. In addition, if the imoact evaluation takes into considertation the city impact meansurement and monitoring framework for sustainable develooment, it could be used by city authrorities to report on the NEW Urban Agenda and for SDG11. As such, this would enable to integrate sustainability reporting as part of the urban planning system and optimise ressources for positive impact for people and planet
