Collaboration and continuous refinements have already been mentioned as key performance parameters. Along with these the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the training are very important. The SOPs and training are tightly coupled in any of the IT operations. The expected level of performance can be ensured when the SOPs are timely exercised and people are well trained around them. Often under the name of agility, the burden of pre-exercising SOPs, is completely on the team-members. However the leaders must understand that the agility is not always the very first thing to be achieved and definitely not at the cost of performance. A well designed training program and well written SOPs are the keys.

This is a combination of a few things to ensure we don't lose track of the Organization level goals and at the same time have individual level growth 1- It is very important to know what the teams objectives are. Work with your manager to ensure enough transparency around this. 2- By tieing the Team Objectives to some of the basics of IT Ops understanding, you would be able to identify a few goals that aligns with your interest , and atleast one, which you would like to learn. eg Org Goal - Reduce Operational support cost. Individual Goal - Develop, Implement Analytics for failure reduction feeding into a failure reduction program and tracking failure reduction by 30%. Have meetings with your manager to discuss progress and get feedback.
