My knowledge of ‘policy impact’ came from ‘the other side’ in many ways. Whilst I was a politician, I could see positive and negative impacts of government of regional government policy. A very specific impact was following social welfare reviews which were not always fully through which led to a massive workload for me and ‘nightmare’ situations for constituents. I had the capability to raise these concerns ‘on the floor’ of the Assembly many others did not. ‘Real world’ scenarios need to be thought out prior to introduction of policies to ensure the impact is not ‘mayhem’.

Drawing a diagram of the perfect planning or ethical decision looks great on paper but if it does not seek community support - not the politicians - the community you will face or could face ‘roadblocks’ which can become insurmountable if there is no community involvement in the ‘big picture’

As I said earlier, the more you strategically learn, the more you will advance in the aim you possess. Never lose track of your aim and continue tracking and complementing it with required courses to advance your career as you visualise it. People have visions and dreams within them but these only materialise when who you go as big as your dreams.
