Awareness is the key. before adapting our communication style to a diverse personalities, it is important to be self-aware. We should identify what comes to us naturally - am I direct or indirect; Am I detail-oriented or focused on the big picture? We can try communication style assessment which can be a starting point for further reflection. Asking a trusted advisor on how they perceive our communication. We can also analyze by paying attention to how people typically react to our communication - Do they seem confused, engaged, or defensive? To summarize, communication styles are not fixed. We can develop our ability to flex and adapt our communication to different situations and people.

Learn about different profiling techniques like DISC, Myer Briggs or NLP meta programs and integrate them into your way of working with people (this may take a couple of days/months/years). Then learn to adjust your communication and learn to speak the language your counterpart needs by becoming more technical/emotional or more assertive/relaxed or whatever direction your counterpart may tend to.

Analytical thinkers: Prefer logic, facts and figures. ? Emotional communicators: Use storytelling, express enthusiasm, and acknowledge feelings. ? Task-oriented communicators: Task masters, doers, focus on deadlines, goals, and action steps. ? People-oriented communicators: Ask questions, build relationship, acknowledgement.

If you're working with a small team, have a one-on-one conversation with them. Ask them questions about themselves, assess their self awareness and boost their confidence. Let them see that your desire is not to belittle anyone and even when you say things that may not be in their favour, they can see your heart right in the middle of it. Ask what style of correction many of them prefer. Help them see better if you must, but the goal is to leave people better than you met them. It's not a common practice yet but it is a style we should embrace.
