The most bottom lined answer to this question is “Because I get stuff done and people like working with me.” There are two basic questions underneath every question an interviewer is asking. “Do you get stuff done?” and “Are you somebody I’d want around?” If you are someone who takes ownership of your life and who achieves goals while in rapport with others, you are more hirable than a lot of people. Now you just need to communicate this effectively. For every question they ask, respond, showing you understand and are capable. There is a standard defined approach for this. Highlight your skills and competency in relation to the job description, and company profile. Go in with the idea of educating them as to your talents & strengths. They don't know you, teach them how great you would be for the job. Respond confidently when asked this question. You should hire me because... then list how your skills are best suited to the major job descriptors. You are educating not selling. You are having a conversation not selling. As soon as you slip into the "I must convince them.." mindset you are sunk. You can only share information not actively convince anyone of anything. When you confidently converse with the interviewer you are educating them that you are strong & resilient. Be human, if you are nervous, breathe, it shows you care about the job and that you have self control.
