STAR is an excellent rubric to craft a story that includes the salient bits, prevents long rambling stories full of tangents and distractions and places it in a structure that's easily followed. Don't forget to include context and meaning. Remember the interviewer is really asking about themes and meanings. If you keep these in mind throughout your crafting and re-telling of the story, you will ensure you support these elements with the Situation, Tasks, Actions and Results.
