Centralised Version Control System: Uses a single centralised server to store all versions. Developers will checkout to local machine and work on them. Eg: Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 3. Distributed Version Control System: Each of developers will have copy of all the version changes. This ensures the backup of the VCS. And will help developers to collaborate extensively. Then knowing about popular VCS tools too a good addition during interview. Git, Subversion, Mercurial
