Here's how you can ace a biotechnology interview by avoiding common mistakes.

An interview in biotech will be to establish if you are both a cultural and professional fit for the company. It's important that you have a sound understanding of the science of the company, and the role that you are applying for. In the interview, you should be able to explain past roles and experiences, the function you performed, and the skills you used. It will also be important that you have a solid understanding of the science behind the techniques and skills that you've developed. Being able to demonstrate HOW and WHY you use these skills will be integral, as well as an idea of how you will apply these in the role that you're interviewing for.

Be specific about your role, the skills you utilized, and the tangible results you achieved. Concrete examples demonstrate your expertise and reliability. Prepare thoughtful questions about the company’s research direction, collaboration opportunities, and growth plans. This indicates your strategic thinking and genuine interest in contributing to their long-term success.

You can understand their corporate culture and values by studying their mission statements. This knowledge enables you to tailor your responses to resonate with their goals and values, demonstrating both your technical smarts and cultural fit.
