In my project we experienced some changes or modifications on existing erected Pre-Engineered buildings. We missed some requirements need to comply. Built-up area we have on conceptual drawings were not enough to accommodate the required number of people for the dining area which led to make building extension. Scope analysis is very vital and have a huge impact on the schedule if missed. Lesson learned, read every detail mentioned in the scope specially for the Designed and Build project. Material specs. And Design standards should be clearly understood to know lead time material delivery and alternative Design proposals to meet contract requirements

Basically for time line calculation, you need to defined the scope and content precisely. after that detailed work breakdown needs to be done with its respective timeline by performing benchmarking of historical data. After that, we need to take the scope buffer in the timelines itself. Also shared the work breakdown with the customer for their approval so that in the future there will be no ambiguity observed.

LISP files are very helpful. These plugins will help in speeding up the calculation process and make the bench mark for schedule and manpower required for every activities associated. Moreover, it will give you also more time to do some other task like reviewing again the plans and SOW if need to revise the design in order to comply with client requirements. Softwares are the arsenals of every engineers working as a back support prior execution. The more software you know how to use the more flexible and degree of accuracy you can get. Also will help you counter check data you have at hand.
