Faculty are skeptical about technology in teaching. Can you engage students while addressing their concerns?

Technology is always an added advantage along with the chalk and talk method of teaching.When students need to be job-ready and market ready, teachers need to impart the learnings right from day 1 so that students also feel comfortable to include technology in their daily studies. Right from power point presentations, using animation and videos not only makes sessions interesting but also upgrades your interactions with students. I believe in co-creating my sessions with my students so they are always a part of learning. In fact when this approach is adopted, I always find some new learning for me as well from my students.

Tech. can make learning more personalized, like all other recommendations-based applications (Netflix, Swiggy, etc..). Unlike traditional classrooms' typical "one-size-fits-all" approach, educational technology allows teaching to be tailored to each student's unique needs. Eg: adaptive learning tools can adjust lesson difficulty based on how well a student is doing with individualized feedback. Technology enhances their role by giving them data on student progress. Teachers remain essential in interpreting this data and guiding students. Personalized feedback is imp. for student development, but it's often hard for teachers to provide it in large classrooms. Technology can also help by automating certain tasks which are straightforward.

While I can see why some instructors feel that electronic devices in the classroom distracts students, I argue that denying them these tools is a missed opportunity. Technology is both the way of the future (whether we like it or not) and it is, in many ways, the language they speak. If we're meant to meet our students where they are, we need to employ a more innovative pedagogical practice. Incorporating curriculum that supports critical thinking about technology helps them cultivate a language around their relationship to their devices (e.g. wellness, ethics, habits, progress, learning aids). Giving them an opportunity to have a more expanded understanding of technology will give them the tools to think critically about how they use it.
