Proatividade.

Managing a crisis involves immediate action, preserving the resilience of the team, and maintaining a long-term vision. To achieve this, the first step is to strengthen team cohesion: assign roles and foster continuous collaboration. This helps keep morale high. Next, active listening: during a crisis, emotions tend to overflow. Listening to and validating your team enables more effective responses and creates an atmosphere of trust. Lastly, maintaining focus on the purpose: don’t lose sight of the company’s greater purpose. This creates a sense of direction and unity, even in times of uncertainty. Doing this can help you manage stress effectively and create opportunities for innovation and improvement.

During a corporate crisis, remaining calm as the leader of Corporate Communications cannot be overstated. It's important to take care of yourself, so you can be clear-headed, bring the right group of people together, ask key questions, and move the communications response forward appropriately.

Remain calm and assess the situation, what information is reliable and can be substantiated and follow you crisis plan. Ideally, you and your company have spent some time drawing up the most likely crisis scenarios and rehearsing them so they will come as second nature. You and the CEO, Counsels and other CxOs will have to decide how much you can tell externally and internally but I suggest you are as transparent as the situation allows.
