What needs to be resolved is the executive’s feeling of being overwhelmed. The answer to this overwhelm lies within the executive, meaning that the root cause and the solution are both internal. Overwhelm can stem from various factors such as less experience, a desire to excel, or other pressures. By exploring these underlying causes and helping the executive gain clarity on their beliefs and emotions, I can guide them to manage their emotions effectively. Which can lead to them being more resilient to deal with the pressure.

As an executive coach, I would first create a safe space for the executive to express their emotions without judgment. Through active listening and empathy, I would help them identify the root causes of their overwhelm, acknowledging both the internal and external pressures. Together, we would explore strategies like mindfulness, emotional regulation, and reframing their perspectives on board expectations. Encouraging self-compassion and helping them separate personal worth from external demands would be key. Additionally, I'd work on enhancing their communication skills to manage board expectations effectively, while promoting resilience and a sense of control over their emotional well-being.

When an ?????????????????? ???? ?????????????????????? ???? ?????????? ????????????????, I would recommend: a) ?????????????? ?????? ??????????????????: Help the executive to reframe the pressure as an opportunity for growth and improvement. By changing the narrative from one of stress to one of challenge, it can transform the emotional response from anxiety to motivation. Encourage the executive to view the board's pressure as valuable feedback that can drive better performance and results. b) ?????????????? ?????????????????? ????????-??????????????????: Encourage the executive to become more aware of their emotional triggers and responses.

A couple of strategies that I have found quite effective in this scenario are as below 1. Introduce the executive to the Circle of Control/ Circle of Influence. This helps the executive to build better clarity about what can be directly controlled, like thoughts, emotions and certain behavior (aligned with the context). This way the executive manages to reframe the entire situation and put its energy and focus on manageable pieces, thereby reducing the overwhelming nature of the situation 2. Enabling the executive to build resilience skills in context of the dynamic nature of the work ecosystem. This way the executive figures out a personalised wellbeing toolkit to aid/ help during many high stake situations/ scenarios like this.

I would help an overwhelmed executive manage board stress by focusing on the big picture, helping them see what they can control and letting go of what they can’t. We’d also work on building resilience and using simple stress management tools like mindfulness and emotional regulation, so they can handle pressure with calm and confidence.
