When I worked in office-based roles, I would block out an hour first thing in the morning for checking, replying and writing emails. Also, I would try to make calls mid morning or afternoon, taking into account that other would also prefer to have non-interrupted time to get tasks done.

It's tough to stay focused with our mobiles around, but here are some practical tips that have proven effective for me and my clients: 1) Keep your mobile on silent mode during work hours. 2) Turn your mobile upside down or keep it in your bag to avoid distractions. 3) When working from home, keep your mobile in another room. 4) Use flight mode when working on critical tasks to avoid notifications. 5)Disable unnecessary notifications, especially from multiple apps. 6)Use the Do Not Disturb and voice message feature Insipite of all these there might be <5% chances that we might miss out on some emergency calls and you can always call back and continue on the missed out communication. These strategies can help you stay focused and productive.

Some of the useful tips I follow personally too, are below : 1.Try not to have year personal phone on non-silent mode.. Better to keep them on vibration mode and check accordingly. 2.Follow a practice of prioritizing calls depending on whether they are Known or Unknown, added with automated messages of call back suitably. 3.A strict no-no to video calls. 4.Personal/Family call-backs , if necessary , can be done during lunch to save time during office hours.

Calls can disrupt your focus, so make sure that your phone is on Do Not Disturb when you're doing work that requires concentration. To make things easier on your brain, schedule a time to listen and respond to your voice mails. Switching from task to task tires it out, so group all your phone calls together at a time when your energy is low and focus is hard.
