Communication is key on set with models and stylists. How can you ensure everyone is on the same page?

Keep communication open and check in regularly during the shoot to address any questions or adjustments. This ensures everyone is aligned and working towards the same goals.

Antes de empezar, organiza una reunión breve con todo el equipo. Esto puede ser en persona o virtual. En esta reunión, aclarar los objetivos de la sesión, las expectativas y los roles de cada uno. Es un buen momento para responder cualquier pregunta. Proporcioná un documento o moodboard que contenga ejemplos visuales de lo que buscas. This starts before the shoot.. If it's my own project, I'd already communicate when casting talent and team members. It's key to talk to everyone before but also take in account and listen to what people are able to do and find ways they can meet your expectations the best way and you can possibly change the way you shoot to get the best out of the shoot! I quite often feel photographer are the ones who seem to know everything and are quick to blame everyone else for things not being ideal. You're part of a team! I don't like 'hard direction' as it kills the vibe..

It's incredibly helpful for my HMUA's and clients that I go over what looks we will be creating for their session. During the discovery process we discuss hair and makeup including skin and hair types as well as any experience they have had in the past with hair and makeup and what they love or did not. I also ask my clients to send photos of any hair and makeup styles they have seen they love as well as selfies, and other personal photos of their hair and makeup looks for reference. At our Hair and makeup session before the shoot I make sure to pull out the images we have gathered and talk to both the client and HMUA about the intended outcome of their Hair and makeup with frequent check-ins to insure everyone is happy!
