This approach helps minimize risks, reduce costs, and ultimately leads to the creation of a more effective, user-friendly product.

I often frame UX research in terms that resonate with the client’s business objectives. For example, instead of diving into the intricacies of usability testing, explain how any approach will reduce onboarding friction, improve conversion rates, or increase customer retention. Aligning UX methods with measurable business outcomes shows clients that UX research is an investment in achieving their strategic goals. Engaging clients as partners in the research journey ultimately strengthens both trust and results.

Like any good researcher would do, pause and understand WHY is the client challenging the UX research methods: - Is it due to budget constraints regarding the resources needed to execute a particular method? - Are there concerns around the timeline required if the method is in depth? - Or is it around the relevance of the methods in relation to business and research objectives? This will help bring the client stakeholders on the same page. In your proposal, tie each method to the research questions it will answer and the objectives it will help achieve. Detail the intent, and the expected outcomes from each. Highlight and deliver key insights to the client post execution of 1-2 methods to build confidence.
